Hero System

Hero Systems provide the "outcome" of any investment players perform: their heroes grow in power. However, this is also a medium for the Hero-Sentinel relation in the game fantasy. Part of the power progressing and recognition-granting mechanics are realized through blessings given by the Sentinel (narration through mechanics). Note that this does not mean that other systems do not relate to the fantasy; ideally, every game element should. This is only about the focus.

Hero Customization

Players customize their heroes at the beginning of the game, which includes gender selection. Upon this phase, they can see how they may look in the end game. Later, in any game phase, strengthening upon reaching the end game, they can still change their appearance within a broad spectrum. This should preferably include gear appearance management (costumes? Transmogrification?) as well as the possibility to change the initial hero customization (related to Gear System). In reference to the game fantasy, the creation of the hero's uniqueness should partially come from its relation to the Sentinel (Blessing System).

Hero Power / Stat System

Players invest resources and special items they earn in their hero, progressing their power. For the sheer impression of the game being rich, they are given multiple ways of development, though it is always crystal clear for them how each of these translates to the overall Hero Power. In reference to the game fantasy, the progression of the hero's power (partially) comes from their relationship with the Sentinel, presumably as honors granted for valor, which can then be exposed to other players (Blessing System).

Gear/Item System

Players collect and switch gear as well as invest resources and special items they earn in it, progressing their power. There are multiple ways gear can be developed, though it is always crystal clear how they translate to the overall Hero Power. Towards the end game, players may find more strategy in selecting from a variety of potential gear builds in relation to various game challenges, though this layer should not interfere with the clarity of power progression in early game stages. Item development refers to the game fantasy in the same way as in Hero Power / Stat System. Preferably the Sentinel should be exposed as a "companion" who has her own progression mechanics.
